A Good Day

Yesterday we had dinos to play with while we waited
for the doctor at Lucia's nine month appointment.
She loved them.
We roared and growled at each other
and inspected their rough plastic shells.
Matt loved dinosaurs when he was little,
his mother told me so.
He could name and identify each different one.
Maybe Lucia will do the same?

Our pediatrician gave her a clean bill of health,
checked her toes,
checked her teeth.
She grinned showing two full bottom pearls
and two popping through at the top.
It happened last week,
the third tooth and the fourth;
one, then the other.
He told me to start cleaning them,
to start taking care of them now.

We had part two of the seasonal flu shot,
she is in sixtieth percentiles for height and weight,
and is nineteen pounds of goodness.

We had dinner together at Panera
because my post-move fridge is still sitting bare.
She had chicken and bits of wheat bread.

We were greeted by a pink living room when we arrived home,
and a happy Scarlett doggy wagging her tail and begging for attention.
We love our new sweet home
and our new cozy neighborhood.
Cozy, yes,
I would definitely say that it is as cozy
as a neighborhood could ever be.
It was a good day.

We had a bath,
the second I set Lucia down in the garden tub,
she crawled to the other side and giggled.
She put her head down and blew bubbles in the water.
She came up for air, her blue eyes BIG with excitement.
She put her head down again and gulped,
looked up at me again,
as if to see how impressed I was.
She splashed and splashed.
Bath time is wet and warm.

After I wrapped her in a towel,
warmed the lavender lotion in my heads
and covered her from head to toe.
She smelled delicious.
We went to bed quickly thereafter.

It was a good day.
