Our Thanksgiving Schnitzel

That is right, make no mistake, we forwent the bird this year and dined on schnitzel. My mom and I had planned on making a Thanksgiving feast in my dad's apartment; she had even scouted out a place to buy a bird and checked the produce section of the local grocer for green beans.

Strudel would be our dessert,
hefeweizen our drink.

Nana was insistent that Lucia have turkey on her First Thanksgiving.
But, when it came down to it, getting everything together was going to be far more difficult than it needed to be, especially as we were all on vacation. So, as heartbreaking as it may seem, baby L had to go without observation of turkey carving. She did not seem to mind.

Dad had his schnitzel Hungarian style with mushrooms and cream sauce;
Matt ordered the Espana schnitzel with Papricka and spice;
Mom sampled the French fare with carmalized onions;
and I ordered the German style with a fried egg.
All plates were delicious,
plentiful,
decorative,
and decked with a heaping pile of french fries.
We all shared bites,
we all had a few beers
with the exception of Lucia
who, not surprisingly, had some milk.
We all told of our favorite childhood memories
and our favorite memories of each other.

A happy Thanksgiving, indeed.
Thanks Matt, Mom, Dad and Lucia for making it so wonderful.
And to the rest of our beloved family, we certainly missed you!

love your thanksgiving abroad and your DELICIOUS-sounding (non)turkey day fare.

we can pretend all day long that the holiday is about food, but we know for sure it is about moms and dads and babies and love love love.

just kidding it's all about the dressing. ;)

Thanks, ladies.

We did have so much fun. I've got more to share, just doing it in stages so it is not picture overload.

Hope you all are well.
